26.2 for Laura - Running the London Marathon for NYU Langone Brain Research Center
Earlier this year, my younger sister, Laura, was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent emergency brain surgery. In the days and weeks since, she’s shown a level of bravery and resilience that reminds me what it truly means to be tough. She faces every appointment, every scan, and every unknown with an unbreakable spirit. And somehow, she still finds ways to make us all laugh – our classic youngest child. She’s always been the one who lifts us up without even trying, and who shows up for the people she loves with her whole heart. I’ve always looked up to my younger sister, but I’ve never been more in awe of her – or more proud to be her sister – than I am now.
Thanks to her incredible team at NYU Langone, Laura’s surgery was successful, and she’ll continue treatment there with radiation and chemotherapy. Her doctors have cared for her with extraordinary skill and compassion at every turn. They are confident in the treatment plan they have created for her, which gives our family tremendous hope as she moves into this next phase. Her journey ahead will depend in part on continued advances in brain cancer research and treatment. We’re so grateful to the team at NYU Langone and for the vital work being done at the NYU Brain Center. This fundraiser will help fuel the treatment innovations that make a real difference for patients like Laura.
Running the 2026 London Marathon now carries a meaning far deeper than miles or finishing times. Every mile feels like a profound privilege. I’m running for Laura – for her resilience, her humor, her tough spirit, and the way she makes all of us feel braver just by being herself. I’m also running in gratitude for the amazing doctors and nurses who are leading her treatment and I have an ambitious goal of raising $1,000 for every mile. Your donation will help drive life-saving new therapies forward – treatments that will help Laura and so many patients just like her.
