Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care delivers on a promise to continuously improve the care experience for children and their families. Sala partners with families to make care more empathetic, less overwhelming, and truly centered on the needs of children and those who love them. It is the CARE in the critical care provided to children and families at the Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone.
When our daughter, Hannah, was hospitalized after a seizure at the age of 5, Sala’s programs and compassionate specialists turned frightening days into moments of comfort, creativity, and joy. Guided by kindness, trust, and respect, Sala empowers families and helps children heal—not just physically, but emotionally, too.
This conversation will be led by Dr. Katie Ort, Co-Director of the KiDS of NYU Integrated Behavioral Health Program at Sala and Chief of Service for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hassenfeld. Dr. Ort works alongside children and their families to manage the mental health conditions that often accompany acute or chronic medical illness, improving children's well-being and reducing the stigma around mental healthcare.
