Piper Mayes NYC Half Marathon Fundraising
In 2014, my oldest brother, Conner, was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 14. At the time, my family had little information about the disease and felt lost as we tried to navigate how best to help him live a life free of seizures. Watching Conner face challenges like uncertainty, fear, and the impact of seizures on his daily life was incredibly difficult for all of us.
Fortunately, doctors like Dr. Orrin Devinsky at NYU Langone provided extraordinary care and expertise, helping my brother achieve seizure control and regain his independence. Their guidance and treatment transformed not only Conner’s life but also our entire family's understanding of epilepsy and how to support those affected by it.
This experience inspired me to raise awareness and funds for epilepsy research and care. On March 16th, I’ll be running the NYC Half Marathon and completing 13.1 miles in honor of this amazing cause.
