NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island Pediatric Center located at 175 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead, New York is a highly accredited community-based practice four miles from our main Long Island campus. We provide general pediatric and supportive services to an underserved population with low socioeconomic status.
Our team sees children from birth up to the age of 21 who have various disorders, including developmental delays and complex chronic conditions. The Center handles preventative care visits as well as urgent sick visits, hospital or emergency room follow-ups and behavioral concerns. Our panel consists of board certified pediatricians, pediatric residents, a nurse practitioner, who is an international board certified lactation consultant, and a pulmonologist. We also have a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician and mental health services onsite. Furthermore, we have a nurse coordinator, liaison patient care associate, medical assistants and a team of registered nurses some of them being certified as breastfeeding counselors and certified asthma educators. As a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, the center strives to provide a whole-person approach to health care. We work to develop quality improvement projects to advance the health of our patients in areas such as childhood obesity, asthma control, mental health issues, and the care of patients with medically complex conditions.
Our team is compassionate and genuinely loves and cares for our patients in Hempstead. We welcome all patients and go out of our way to give them and their families a listening ear, help find resources they may need, create time slots that suit their busy schedules, ensure they have their medications, see specialists in a timely fashion, and have social workers available if needed. We always treat the patient and their family as a whole, taking into consideration social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Funds raised will help purchase things like books (for the Reach Out and Read literacy program), back-to-school supplies, gift cards for food and clothes, toys for the Holidays and birthdays, winter wear (jackets, hats, gloves). A gift of any amount will help impact the lives of patients and families that the NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island Pediatric Center serves.
