AJ's NYC Marathon 2025 Fundraiser for FACES
I'm excited and honored (and the right amount nervous!) to be running my first marathon, this fall in New York City on Team FACES!
FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) funds many essential services and research surrounding epilepsy and seizures. This support includes the SUDCRRC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Registry and Research Collaborative). You can learn more about it at https://med.nyu.edu/centers-programs/sudden-unexplained-death-childhood-registry-research-collaborative/). The SUDCRRC is especially close to my heart as it not only searches for answers for families that have unexpectedly lost children with no known cause or reason identified, but also because it falls under the direction of my mom, Laura Gould, MSc.
My family was personally impacted by one of these tragic deaths in 1997, when my oldest sister, Maria, died suddenly and unexpectedly, at 15 months of age. Her death was later classified as SUDC and remains so currently.
With support from FACES, research continues to improve our understanding of sudden death in children which will help prevent these deaths in the future.
Thank you in advance for your support, looking forward to seeing you all on race day!
