In the last decade, major research has been conducted in the genetics of epilepsy.  In the last decade, major research has been conducted in the genetics of the epilepsy.   The presence of specific genetic abnormalities leading to some of the classical epileptic syndromes has been clearly elucidated. 
Advances in molecular genetics have translated into the increasing utilization of genetic testing in routine clinical practice in neurology.  This presentation will review the genetics of epilepsy and the impact on clinical practice.
